Yes, it's a novelty feature... yes, it's cheesy, and dammit, why couldn't they re-implement weapon-breaking from the original Soul Edge game?

Soul Calibur 4 -is- a great game in its own right.. but the "armor breaking" is almost on par with Dead or Alive antics. Heck, even DOA hasn't gone that far. Give 'em time, though. :>

I know, it's weird huh? I was just playing that game yesterday, I was going through all the story modes of the characters, one time I was playing as Maxi and my enemy "broke his vest off", he's barely wearing that vest at all and they just "break it off!" Also another time I was playing as Lizardman and was fighting Talim, all he did was knock her hat off and there was a big "clank" noise!

Wasn't just fanservice. Soul crush, critical finishes and armor breaking were implemented because of turtle shelling losers who just hold down the guard button.

This one, I got the idea from actually playing some Soul Calibur 4 and just seeing how kinda absurd the armor breaking is. It's one thing if the character is actually wearing an armor piece, like a helmet or such. It's another... when wearing a shirt and you hear this -CLANG!!- and whoop! There goes the shirt. You start to wonder "what the hell was that shirt made of?"
